SkoolBag understands that the Department of Education has requested that all sites have SSL. We have received a number of requests due to this, and there seems to be some confusion about this request and what it means.
What is SSL?
SSL stands for “Secure Socket Layer.” It is a technology that establishes a secure session link between the visitor’s web browser and your website so that all communications transmitted through this link are encrypted.
When is SSL important?
SSL is important when sharing sensitive information such as credit card details and other personal information online.
SkoolBag’s website generally reflects the same information that is seen through the app, which is not sensitive or collecting personal information such as credit card details. However, Google does give preference to websites that have SSL on their search engine results page.
SkoolBag are currently exploring how we will implement SSL to meet the Department of Education’s needs and will update the community as soon as a solution has been reached.
