If COVID-19 disrupts your usual school or education routine, SkoolBag can open up communication channels for critical information, remote learning, dissemination of homework and more.
In this article, we explain how SkoolBag can be used to:
-
Broadcast important updates to your school community via the SkoolBag app
-
Keep your staff updated via the SkoolBag app
-
Send lesson videos, worksheets, documents and more to your students via the SkoolBag app
With disruption to families stemming from isolation, being delayed overseas and more, guardians who are helping out with children may not have the ability to login to some school systems as they have not previously been set up. By default, SkoolBag is set up in a way that lets your whole school community (including temporary guardians) ‘subscribe’ to groups that are important to their families or the children they are caring for. This means no one will miss out on the important information, homework or updates.
Information on how your SkoolBag communication app can be used in these trying times to bridge common remote communication challenges:
-
Broadcast tool to send important updates to parents - SkoolBag app notifications ensure that your message is delivered to parents via a dedicated communication channel and with the urgency it requires, rather than these urgent messages getting lost amongst Facebook or Twitter news feeds. Simply compose your message in SkoolBag and send as a push notification and email to ensure your school community is kept in the loop. Read more on how to post an entry from the SkoolBag app.
-
A reliable way to update all staff - Setting up a private (invite only) “Staff” group within your SkoolBag app is a must have communication channel for keeping your staff abreast of the latest updates at your school. They’ll get your message on their phone no matter where they are. Read more on how to set up a closed group for staff.
-
Set up SkoolBag class groups for each class and send homework to the class (or to the guardians of students in that class) via the SkoolBag app. You may choose to record your lesson with your mobile and save it to a private youtube channel, then attach the link to that youtube video within a SkoolBag message and send it off to the specific class group (i.e. “Class 4C”). You can also attach class worksheets or textbook pages as PDF, Word Documents, Google Documents and more to your SkoolBag message. Read more on how to set up groups and enable group managers.
